    Metairie Imaging
is a privately held company in the Greater New Orleans area since 1991 and is locally owned and operated. For the first six years we operated under our corporate name of Elmwood MRI, Ltd. Metairie Imaging has always remained on the cutting edge of the latest technology available.
In 1997 Metairie Imaging upgraded it's magnet to the new OPEN style magnet. It has a .25 tesla magnet, its software exceeds or matches most larger magnets.
Our relationship with General Electric allows us priority to any new software that becomes available. The software can quickly and easily be integrated into our system. This gives Metairie Imaging even more imaging advantages in the future to accommodate the ever changing advances in medicine. The General Electric Profile System can handle all types of MRI studies including:
Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar, Brain including MRA studies (vascular evaluation with no contrast injection required), Extremity MRI including Shoulder, Knee, Ankle, Wrist, Elbow and Hand. Metairie Imaging is very sensitive to claustrophobic and larger size patients, that's what makes our OPEN system so appealing. All of the above mentioned studies are performed with no fear to the patient. Our OPEN design magnet eliminates these fears and accommodates patients up to 450 pounds. It's great for pediatric patients. A specially designed chair allows parents or loved ones to stay with the patient during the examination. If desired, the patient is allowed to hold a call button throughout the exam or listen to their favorite music.
Metairie Imaging is one of the only privately held facilities that is accredited by the American College of Radiology. This accreditation sets us apart from our competitors in the area. Our on-site Radiologists are board certified including a neuro-radiologist which gives Metairie Imaging the advantage especially when emergency or stat reports are required by the referring physician. Metairie Imaging guarantees twenty four hour turnaround to the patient's referring physician.
